The Mindset to Change Your Life’s Direction, w/ John Brontsema

My whole life was dedicated to baseball from an early time. People say, “Don’t put your identity,” or “You’re not a baseball player. That’s not your identity.” It really is though. While it’s not, it feels like it, because every decision I made, everything I was passionate about was baseball and achieving the next level.

Entrepreneurs Growing Together at CO-HOOTS with Odeen Domingo – Episode 86

About Odeen Domingo:

Odeen Domingo is an entrepreneur extraordinaire who co-founded CO-HOOTS, the CO-HOOTS Foundation, is the owner of Fresh Words Market, and puts in work as a work ninja at Eeko Studio. He has also interned for the Los Angeles Times in the newsroom and Sports Desk. After his dream internship, he moved on to working at the Arizona Republic and covered several different levels of sports. His passion project, CO-HOOTS, has grown into a collaborate co-working space for entrepreneurs, startups, freelancers, and other influencers who want to share knowledge and grow with each other.

His favorite Arizona restaurant is Matt’s Big Breakfast. Odeen loves breakfast food, and this is his all-time favorite breakfast spot. He orders an off-the-menu item and raves that their griddlecakes are the best!

Odeen’s wife, Jenny Poon, has had a huge impact on who he is today. He says that her passion, drive, and business acumen are awe-inspiring. She has taught him several things about business and himself. She has also given him the greatest gifts he could ever ask for – marriage and their daughter.

The most memorable mistake he has made in business was partnering with the wrong person when they started the foundation. He put full trust in that person without much oversight, and it was a mistake.

The biggest obstacle he has overcome is not being able to retain his position as the Arizona Cardinals beat reporter for the Arizona Republic after the 2005 season, but look where he is today!

His advice to someone looking to start a similar career is that everything boils down to empathy. You have to be empathetic to people’s needs and your audience’s problems to add value to this work and to find solutions.
